See Congresswoman Cammack’s fiery speech in support of these acts.

Gainesville, FL – Big Daddy Unlimited does not stand for federal overreach making thousands of our customers, and millions of gun owners, felons overnight; we are calling for and supporting the SHORT Act and REINS Act.

The Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act changes the definition of firearms regulated by the NFA and alters the restrictions for interstate commerce. This bill includes redefining short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns.

The Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act requires congressional approval for any “rule” that would create an economic impact of 100 million or more.

When the pistol brace “rule” was released by the ATF, Congresswoman Cammack reached out to co-founder and Chief Evangelist, Sherrie McKnight, immediately to seek information about how the pistol brace ban would affect our customers and business.

By using publicly-sourced data from the NICS and data from our catalog in terms of average pricing, estimated sales, and projected sales, we were able to determine that impact on our industry would exceed 1.9 billion dollars by moderate estimates based exclusively on the sale of completed firearms. When pistol-braced accessories are included, we found an additional impact of 300 million dollars, totaling 2.28 billion as a total impact.

Nevertheless, it is important to note that this estimate does not consider any operational costs associated with the “rule”. These would include labor spent registering firearms, storage costs, shipping costs for those dealers and distributors who do not have the proper licensing to register these items, and many other costs which are very difficult to accurately calculate.

All things considered, it never should have come to this extreme because the ATF is creating “rules” without any authority to do so. Even worse, for years they provided public letters saying that stabilizing braces do not classify as short-barreled rifles.

On the topic, Sherrie McKnight, co-founder and Chief Evangelist, shared, “When I spoke to Kat about the pistol brace rule, she immediately scheduled a meeting to discuss in depth how this ruling would affect businesses in the firearms industry as well as impacts to law abiding citizens. Congress is filled with people who don’t care about the Second Amendment or the firearms industry as a whole, but our Congresswoman is not one of them. Her support of the REINs act will protect our industry and our customers from the tyranny of 3 letter government agencies that create rules at their will and without oversight. They know that the easiest way to destroy the Second Amendment is by getting rid of all manufacturers and retailers. We cannot and will not stand by and let that happen!”

We will continue this fight on behalf of our customers, and ensure that you are protected from unelected bureaucrats. If any other member of Congress would like to receive information from our headquarters, we would be more than happy to help them in those efforts.
