In the latest publicity stunt act of heroism for the always vigilant Biden Administration, they courageously liberated imprisoned and incredibly brave WNBA star, Brittney Griner, from the atrocities of a Russian gulag. I lack any doubt that this valiant effort showed Putin who was in charge and ensured that all of our adversaries understand the immense stature that our Commander-in-Chief holds on the world stage. Give me a break.

The reality is that we made a prisoner swap to receive our petty-crime-charged professional basketball player and in return sent their notorious arms dealer, prolific anti-aircraft weapons smuggler, terrorist promoter, their “Merchant of Death,” Viktor Bout. The actions of this Administration show their commitment to hypocrisy and poor judgment; at least they are consistent.

There’s plenty to be said about how certain involved parties don’t even like this country, or how this was used to placate minority communities, or how this isn’t exactly a fair trade, or even how we left a marine there.

However, let’s explore a different angle; why does an international terrorist, large munitions arms dealer have more access to the Second Amendment than you or me? In other words, not only do we not have any means to possess or hold, own, or transfer the munitions he had in his possession, but we would be punished more severely for much less. Whether that’s trying to ban “assault weapons,” outlaw 80% lowers, or make felons out of people who “incorrectly” use pistol braces, the Biden Administration has harassed and disparaged law-abiding gun owners at every turn.

In fact, on Thanksgiving, when asked to comment, Biden said, “The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It’s just sick. It has no, no social redeeming value. Zero. None. Not a single, solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers,”

While every gun owner and manufacturer stands trial and is blamed for actions they did not do, a Russian terrorist returns home without having to fulfill the terms of his crime. Unlike the found cannabis vape on Griner, Bout had been arrested for conspiracy to kill Americans and US officials.

Even worse, as if it could get any worse, it appears as though the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, not atypical for this motley crew in the Executive. It was announced that the Pentagon is concerned that Bout will return to arms trafficking. We’ve all seen the stories of FFLs being shut down over a couple of incorrect 4473s. Then, after shutting down those well-established businesses, they take all of their records to build their supposedly not real database. Maybe, just maybe, an FFL shut down by the ATF should consider international weapons dealing to criminals, terrorists, and gang lords. Not only is this a more lucrative endeavor, but nobody is going to stop you. Worst case scenario, you get caught, do a few years in jail, but you get to leave jail early and continue your work.

This prisoner exchange was not only a loss for the United States on the world stage, but it was an eye-opening experience for the assault on our Second Amendment rights. When a global terror sympathizer is permitted by our government to engage in activities its own citizens would not be permitted to engage in, there’s something wrong with the system. We have a responsibility to stand up against these hypocrisies and point them out when they present themselves. The Second Amendment is under attack by this administration and they have no regard for logical arguments or the laughability of their actions. And don’t get me started on how this will impact their efforts in Ukraine.
